About me
I am Samuel Turner, a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Hernia surgery and Renal Transplantation. I have dedicated my career to helping people feel better, regain confidence in their health and get back to living life fully.
I studied Medicine at the King's College London and completed my higher specialist surgical training across London and the Southeast. I have been a Consultant Surgeon at North Bristol NHS Trust, one of the UK's leading centres for general and specialist surgery, for 9 years. During this time I have performed hundreds of hernia repairs alongside hundreds of renal transplants in both adults and children.
I perform both open and laparoscopic (keyhole) hernia repairs and am committed to ensuring the most appropriate evidence-based treatment, tailored to you as an individual. My patients and my colleagues often tell me they value my calm approach and the time I take to explain each step of their journey.
The best surgery starts with listening. Every patient's situation is different, whether it's a small groin hernia or a larger, complex problem in an old incision. My goal is always to offer clear explanations, honest advice and a treatment plan that fits your needs and lifestyle.
Outside the operating theatre, I'm involved in clinical leadership of the North Bristol transplant unit to help drive growth and safer, higher-quality surgical care. Every week I teach resident doctors and medical students as an Academy Tutor and each year I present at national conferences to stay engaged with the latest advances in surgery so that my patients benefit from evidence-based care.
If you are considering hernia surgery, I would be delighted to discuss your options and guide you through what is best for you.
