About me
Mr Taylor qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in 1994. His postgraduate surgical training was carried out in London on the North West Thames Specialist Registrar training programme, including working at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital & Charing Cross Hospital, both being internationally renowned Teaching Hospitals.
At the end of his training, he carried out sub-speciality fellowship training in complex foot and ankle surgery at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. The RNOH is a world famous centre of excellence for complex orthopaedic surgery. He gained vast experience in treating all forms of complex foot and ankle conditions, with patients being referred from hospitals around the country, as well as internationally.
He was appointed to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and Poole Hospital in 2004 as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in complex foot and ankle surgery. Mr Taylor’s current practice is almost exclusively related to conditions of the foot and ankle. This includes the management of complex trauma of the foot and ankle, as well as treating high level athletes and professional sportsmen and women.
He also takes an active role in training the next generation of Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeons. Mr Taylor has previously been voted as the Wessex Region Trainer of the Year. This prestigious award is voted for by the Orthopaedic trainees and is given to the Consultant in the region who has made the greatest contribution to training in the previous year. He also hosts visiting surgeons wishing to learn complex Foot and Ankle surgical techniques.
Mr Taylor has been an invited lecturer at local, national and international meetings and in 2019, Mr Taylor was invited to be a member of faculty at the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society’s prestigious annual conference, where he lectured on ankle replacement, as well as surgical techniques for complex ankle fractures.
In November 2019, Mr Taylor was elected as President of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society, having been a member of council for the previous seven years. He advises on matters of national policy, ensuring that the highest standards of treatment are offered to patients suffering with foot & ankle conditions.
