About me
Professor Wilson is a specialist knee surgeon with an interest in joint preservation knee surgery
He has pioneered several techniques in the field of ligament and Osteotomy surgery. These include the all inside technique for ACL and PCL surgery for which professor Wilson has developed several instruments and refined the procedures. He has also helped to pioneer the Anterolateral Ligament procedure and is part of the ALL consensus group professor Wilson has also helpeded to develop ACL repair and has published his technique and results. In the field of knee Osteotomy surgery he has developed minimally invasive techniques for both high tibial and distal femoral Osteotomy which allow patients to rehabilitate quicker and with less pain. He has helped to develop knee Osteotomy in the UK and co-founded the Basingstoke Osteotomy Masterclass which teaches consultants about this procedure. He also founded the knee Osteotomy expert group (www.osteotomyexpertgroup.co.uk)
Professor Wilson has a chair within the department of Sport and Exercise at Winchester University where he has several on going research projects in the fields of Osteotomy and ligament surgery.
A major part of professor Wilson's practice is dealing with complex patients referred in from other knee specialists tertiary because of his expertise.
Professor Wilson has a visitation programme for other consultants based in the UK and further afield to join him and his team in his operating theatre and learn first hand about his pioneering work.
Professor Wilson gives lectures at prestigious meetings and courses on a monthly basis. He travels frequently to discuss his techniques, results and perform live surgery for other surgeons to see and learn from his experience and knowledge.he has performed live surgery in Germany, the USA , Sweeden, Finland, Holland, India, Thailand, Belgium, France and the UK.
