About me

I am a Fellowship trained Consultant Physician in Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine (SEM). I work with patients and athletes of all levels, ages and backgrounds to optimise their health and performance. My aim is to help people consistently feel and perform at their best, no matter what their goals are. I help people manage injuries and illnesses related to sport, work and life. In particular, I specialise in paediatric and adolescent sports medicine, football injuries and concussion and combat sports. I work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of experts to get you back on track.

I have over 10 years expertise working in sport, where I've been privileged to work with exceptional players and staff at world renowned clubs. I have most recently been the Sports Medicine Lead for the highly successful Academy at Manchester United. Here, I led medical services across the entire development pathway (U9 to U21). I also have experience working with the Men's First Team, and Women's Team/Academy at the club. I have previously held roles at Manchester City Academy and was the Lead Academy Doctor at Sale Sharks Rugby Club for over 7 years.

I have broad experience working in multiple elite sports and at major sporting events (football, rugby union, basketball, cycling, golf, boxing and judo). I have also previously worked independently with high level BJJ competitors and MMA fighters.

I am a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for specialist doctors in training, and a visiting lecturer for MSc students at multiple universities in the Northwest. I am dual certified in Sport and Exercise Medicine and General Practice, and qualified in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound guided injections.

My leadership background in Premier League football has helped me to manage complex injuries in high-pressure environments, where the demands of elite performance are relentless and return-to-play timelines are closely scrutinised. I work collaboratively with physiotherapists and performance staff to ensure a consistent, athlete-centred approach that supports both optimal acute recovery and long-term performance.

Outside of work I'm a husband and a father, and I keep active by chasing my 2-year-old around! I'm currently a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and have previously trained in multiple different martial arts. Whatever spare time I get - I'll be on the mats or strength training in the gym.
