About me
I am Mr Aditya Raja MBBS/BSc (Hons), AICSM, FRCS (Urol), a Consultant Urologist based in Harrogate with an NHS practice at Harrogate and District Foundation Trust Hospital. I have over 15 years of surgical experience and specialise in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide range of urological conditions. I currently serve as the surgical clinical digital lead and the clinical governance lead for urology.
As a private urologist in Harrogate, I see patients with problems affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate, and male reproductive system, offering everything from early diagnosis and medical management to advanced minimally invasive surgery. I am committed to patient-centred care and shared decision-making, meaning my patients are always fully involved in planning their treatment. My goal is to combine medical expertise with compassion, ensuring that patients feel listened to, respected, and reassured.
Training and Professional Background
I trained at Imperial College School of Medicine, London, graduating in 2007 with a medical degree and an intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences with Pharmacology and Toxicology. After completing my early surgical training in Essex and the East Midlands, I pursued specialist urology training in the Yorkshire and the Humber deanery and have made Yorkshire my home.
During this time, I gained extensive experience in both routine and complex urological conditions, including urinary stone disease, prostate disorders, bladder cancer, and reconstructive procedures. In 2024, I was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Urol), a culmination of years of urological training.
I was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, where I continue to deliver both emergency and elective urology services for the local community. Alongside this, I see private patients across Harrogate and the wider Yorkshire region who are seeking timely access to specialist care.
Patient-Centred Approach
I understand that seeking help for a urological problem can be worrying. Whether it's blood in the urine, troublesome urinary symptoms, or concern about prostate health, many patients feel anxious before seeing a urologist. That's why I take the time to listen carefully, explain investigations and treatments in clear, jargon-free language, and work with my patients to decide on the most appropriate care pathway.
Patients regularly tell me that what they value most is not only my medical expertise but also my approachable manner and ability to explain complex issues in a way that makes sense. I strongly believe in shared decision-making, where patients are partners in their treatment choices. This means my patients feel informed and confident, whether they are having reassurance after tests, medical therapy, or advanced surgical intervention.

I welcome private patients from Harrogate, Leeds, York, Ripon, and across the wider Yorkshire region. Common reasons for referral include:
