About me
I help patients from with a broad range of problems ranging from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), troublesome acid reflux and concern about risk for bowel cancers.
I try to do as much follow up as possible (sending on results, reports etc.) by email to save on unnecessary trips for you to the hospital and also I avoid any invasive tests where there is a good alternative available.
I am recommended by BUPA's "Open referral" service where >90% of patients say both the "Consultant" and "Quality of Care" was Very good/Excellent. My endoscopy results are independently audited every six months and have been always consistently above national standards.
I have a particular interest in IBS, reflux and advanced endoscopic techniques including endoscopy, colonoscopy (including bowel cancer screening) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). My endoscopy results are independently audited every six months and have always been above national standards.
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital, London, where I have been Chief of the Department.
I qualified (cum laude) in 1986. I have maintained and built on my skills by intermittent attachments at international centres in Japan, USA, France and Germany as well as attending/presenting at international meetings each year.
I was two-times awarded a prestigious “Teachers” award by the American Endoscopy Society (ASGE) in 2007 and again in 2014.
