About me

Dr Edward Hutchison is a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, currently practising at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford. He holds a substantive NHS post and provides expert perioperative and critical care to a diverse patient population across general and specialist services.
Dr Hutchison completed his medical training in the UK and undertook higher specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine across leading teaching hospitals in the East of England. His clinical interests include high-risk perioperative medicine, difficult airway management, and the optimisation of critically ill patients with complex comorbidities.
In addition to his NHS work, Dr Hutchison is a recognised consultant at Springfield Hospital, part of the Ramsay Healthcare Group, where he provides anaesthesia services in the private sector. He is committed to delivering safe, patient-centred care and promoting excellence through evidence-based practice.
Beyond his clinical duties, Dr Hutchison has a strong interest in service development and quality improvement, with a focus on enhancing systems for perioperative care and critical care delivery. He plays an active role in clinical governance and multidisciplinary team collaboration, ensuring high standards of care are maintained and advanced.
