About me
Hi there, my name is Russell and I became a counsellor in order to help people that feel stuck in a situation possibly just like yours, to help people in a way that I too have needed help. In the past ten years I've worked with countless clients helping them unpack and work through periods of depression or anxiety, low self esteem, relationship issues, bereavement - past and very much present and many other issues. My aim is to assist clients through whatever difficulty they may be facing, giving them the tools to get by and granting the support to not feel alone when it feels like others depend on them or they can't ask others for help.
I feel a large part of the process of counselling involves allowing my client the space to talk through what is on their mind without feeling judged. As a client, you should feel comfortable to say whatever comes to mind without fear of a reaction - and that is the kind of space I try to cultivate.
Equally, I understand that sometimes we hold judgements of ourselves that need to be challenged - and I am not averse to confronting these beliefs in protection of my client.
I am an Integrative Counsellor - what that means for you is that I work closely with you to understand what will best help you, based on what is brought to the sessions.
I am comfortable working with clients from all backgrounds and with many presenting issues, but I also have a special interest in working with Bereavement, and with clients from the LGBTQ+ community.
Members of the LGBTQ+ community have always had to find strength to live authentically, but sometimes it can be hard to find that strength. Let me help you by providing an empathic and accepting space where you can be yourself - free from judgement. Whether what you are dealing with comes directly from expressing your sexual orientation or gender identity, or is completely separate, know that you will be treated with dignity and respect when speaking to me.
Loss strikes us all throughout our lives in many ways - the loss of a person, a companion, or even the loss of a job, relationship or hope for the future. Whether thoughts of someone or something feel emotionally painful for you, or you are looking to move on - let me help you through a tough period of time where you may need to reflect, reassess and decide what is next for you.
I may not have met you yet, but I know you are looking here for support - for yourself or for a loved one. I understand that it can take a lot of courage to reach out - whether it is for the first time or reaching out again due to changing circumstances.
