About me

Hi, my name is Jan,

I am a Humanistic Counsellor and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist.
I have had 25 years of experience of providing Counselling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, working with people from a range of backgrounds both within the NHS and private sector with a varied range of difficulties.

My aim as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist is to work with you to help you understand your thoughts, feelings and reactions and to help you to reach your goals so that you can begin to feel some respite from your difficulties and find ways of coping with whatever you are struggling with.

By gathering an assessment of your needs in our first session, I will offer you some evidence - based strategies and techniques and support you in managing some of the pressures of life that may have resulted in you feeling depressed, anxious and overwhelmed. These approaches are also effective in coping with difficulties such as panic, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder and post traumatic stress.

Counselling
If you have opted for counselling I will also provide an assessment of your needs and also discuss with you your main difficulties.

While counselling is much less structured than CBT you still may have therapy goals that you would like to aim for. With both counselling and CBT I will provide you with a compassionate, empathic and non judgemental space to help you to find solutions to difficulties and speak freely about what is troubling you, so that you can begin to feel more empowered to live your life the way you want to and gain relief from your symptoms.
