About me
I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist which means I am trained to a doctorate level in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (short term) and psychodynamic therapy (short or long term) for children, adolescents and adults. I have worked in mental health settings in the NHS, private and charity sectors in both the UK and abroad for over 12 years. My NHS background is in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services as well as Specialist Adult Psychodynamic services.
I treat anxiety, panic, OCD, low mood, anger issues, single incident and complex trauma, as well as self-esteem, confidence issues and attachment/relationship difficulties.
Alongside delivering CBT for these difficulties, I have a particular interest in working relationally. This approach involves helping people understand the conscious and unconscious patterns they have developed of relating to themselves and others (often rooted in early life experiences), and the ways in which these familiar patterns may inadvertently contribute to the difficulties or symptoms people experience in their adult life. I believe that relationships, whether with ourselves, friends, partners, family or colleagues, are fundamental to human wellbeing. My aim is to support the people I work with in developing stable and fulfilling relationships in the knowledge that this in turn contributes to emotional and mental wellness.
My therapeutic approach is warm and empathic, and I will be active in sharing my mind with you. Where appropriate I will make suggestions as to things I think may be helpful to hold in mind outside sessions, or skills to practice on a regular basis to help alleviate the difficulties that brought you to therapy.
I offer in person and online appointments Monday-Friday.
