About me

Dr Andrews graduated from Dundee University Medical School with first-class honours in 2010. After working as a house officer in Dundee and NHS Fife, he trained as a Cardiology Specialist Registrar in Edinburgh from 2014 to 2022.

Dr Andrews was awarded the prestigious British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Fellowship and subsequently completed his PhD with the University of Edinburgh. He has published over 30 peer reviewed articles in several highly respected medical journals, including the Lancet and Nature, and has presented his clinical work internationally.

During his cardiology training in Edinburgh, Dr Andrews completed his subspecialist training in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and a fellowship in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Insertion (TAVI). Following this, he secured a Fellowship in complex and Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) PCI at St. Georges University Hospital, London.

Dr Andrews was appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at Altnagelvin Teaching Hospital in October 2023. He is the Western Health Trust's Cath Lab lead and has established a novel CTO PCI programme in the northwest of Ireland, the first of its kind, to treat the most complex of Coronary cases.
