About me
My career in the mental health field spans over 25years. I bring a breadth and depth of clinical psychology expertise having worked across the lifespan with children, young people, parents/carers and adults from various backgrounds, with various life histories.
I have been employed by statutory organisations such as the NHS, local authorities, mainstream schools, alternative and specialist schools, and family law courts, as well as non statutory organisations such as charities.
I have Chartered status and am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology and have full registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
I obtained my Clinical Psychology doctoral qualification from the University of East London (UEL) in 2003, following completion of my undergraduate Psychology BSc Honours with first class honours.
I have been described as 'a safe pair of hands'. I work hard to understand how a client got to where they are (making sense of the past), help them to cope with the current situation (managing the here and now) and work together with them to get to where they want to go (face the future). It is also important to me to translate psychological concepts into everyday language and provide effective strategies that work specifically in the client's daily life.
Areas of interest
I have expertise in working with most psychological difficulties across the lifespan (children, adolescents, and adults) and can also help parents struggling to manage difficulties that their children/young person presents with.
I am able to support with most psychological difficulties including (as well as many others) - depression/low mood, anxiety/panic attacks, interpersonal/relationship difficulties in couples, parents, families, trauma/PTSD, self-harm/suicidal thoughts, stress/burnout, low self esteem/confidence, work related stress, social anxiety, attachment difficulties etc.
I am trained in both brief and long term therapy.
