About me
Dr Andrew Porter is a Consultant Rheumatologist with an NHS practice at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He provides comprehensive general rheumatology care and co-leads the specialist large vessel vasculitis clinic at Hammersmith Hospital, caring for patients with inflammatory and autoimmune conditions.
He undertook his medical training at the University of Cambridge and University College London, graduating with distinction and being awarded an MA in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience. During his undergraduate and postgraduate training, he received several awards, including the renowned Barbara Ansell Prize in Rheumatology. He has since worked at leading institutions across North-West London, developing extensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of rheumatological disease.
In 2020, Dr Porter was awarded a highly prestigious Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship and went on to complete a PhD at Imperial College London, focusing on the molecular pathogenesis of vasculitis. He has an established academic and research portfolio, with multiple peer-reviewed publications in vasculitis and inflammatory disease and is a regular invited speaker at national and international meetings.
Dr Porter is committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centred and holistic care, particularly for individuals with complex, multisystem symptoms. He is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and currently serves as the Rheumatology Training Lead at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
