About me

Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, particularly if you've already been trying to manage things on your own. You might be feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in patterns that no longer serve you, or struggling with anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress, addiction, relationship difficulties, or a general sense that things have become difficult to manage.

People come to therapy for many different reasons and at different stages in life. For some, it may be about getting through a particularly stressful period. For others, it may be about developing a deeper understanding of themselves, processing difficult experiences or trauma, exploring relationship patterns, or simply having a safe and reliable space that is theirs. There is no "right" way to engage in therapy, and your needs may change over time.

I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK. I am also a Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) with the British Psychological Society (BPS), with professional registration in South Africa through the HPCSA and membership of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

My aim is to offer a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. Therapy is not about being "fixed" or forced into a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we work collaboratively to understand what may be contributing to your difficulties, explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and find ways to help you feel more grounded, supported and in control again.

I work eclectically, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs, rather than rigidly following one model. My approach goes beyond talking therapy. Where helpful, we may explore past experiences and underlying emotional patterns alongside practical coping strategies, psychoeducation and reflective exercises.

Having a consistent and safe therapeutic space to process emotions, make sense of experiences and feel understood can itself be deeply healing. Meaningful change often develops gradually through insight, emotional processing and the continuity of support over time.

One client described their experience of therapy with me in the following way (shared with permission):

Jeanine actually listens to you and is processing the information given. She engages, asks questions and makes you think about your issues with a different perspective. She makes me feel safe and able to open up to talk about topics I have been repressing for years, even issues in my childhood that I had forgotten about. Her calm and soft-spoken nature make her great for keeping me on topic and focused on the issues at hand when I start to ramble down the thought-train.

If you are considering therapy, you are very welcome to get in touch. I would be happy to speak with you and explore whether working together feels like the right fit for your needs.
