About me
Life doesn't come with an instruction manual and it can be difficult to naviagte sometimes. Do any of the following apply to you?
- You feel lonely, frustrated, anxious, experience negative thoughts, and/or struggle to regulate your emotions
- You have noticed a loss of enjoyment, your relationships and/or work performance are not what they used to be, and have lost confidence
- You find yourself repeating similar patterns of behaviour and don't know how make changes
- You are in a negative spiral and feel stuck
- You feel as though you are going through the motions or surviving instead of thriving
Whatever the reason, please know you are not on your own, and support is available.
My role as a therapist is to:
1. help you to navigate the difficulties and obstacles that life presents.
2. work together as a team, and step by step, seek to understand what is going on for you.
3. assist you in identifying your needs and goals to inform your treatment.
4. support increased self-awareness through psychoeducation.
5. offer strategies and techniques to promote personal growth, enabling you to manage life's challenges with enhanced resilience and confidence.
Therapy is not about 'fixing' you, telling you what to do, or giving you the 'answer(s)', but instead empowering you to become your own therapist, to help achieve goals, overcome barriers, and improve overall quality of life.
Free 15-minute consultation call:
The benefit of the consultation/introductory call is that it provides the opportunity to share a bit more detail about what is going on for you and also for you to determine whether you would be happy working together.
You are welcome to contact me via email (preferred) to share available days/times slots and a brief summary of what you are looking for support with. We will then arrange a phone call at a mutually convenient time to discuss your needs. Please look out for my email response(s) in your spam or junk folder.
About:
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. My name is Kirsty, I am a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) offering primarily online therapy and some face-to face sessions in Nottingham. I have over 10 years of experience working in various therapeutic roles in both the public and private health sectors, from CAMHS, NHS IAPT/Talking Therapies, to Charities, and Education.
Accessing therapy can come with a lot of questions, please visit my website where you will find lots of information including client testimonials, what to expect during treatment, and how to best utilise your consultation/introductory call. If you do not find an answer to your question, please contact me via email and I will be in touch.
Areas of interest
In addition to my CBT qualification, I am currently studying a BACP-accredited PG Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy at university.
I utilise an integrative approach which means adopting parts of different therapy approaches to tailor treatment to better suit your needs. CBT offers evidence-based techniques, and is a solution focused 'here and now' structured treatment, and whilst this is great for some, it doesn't work for everyone. Taking that into consideration, I think it can be helpful to also provide individuals with more flexible/less structured sessions giving them opportunity to share more of their story, before delving into practical tasks and techniques, which is where person-centred counselling comes in.
