About me

Mr Barber provides care relating to all relevant aspects of male health. His surgical interests relate to the application of minimally invasive, cutting edge techniques in achieving excellent outcomes with minimal intrusion.
Neil is closely involved in developing minimally invasive treatments for BPH and his experience with Urolift and Greenlight Laser along with a new treatment called Aquablation of the prostate using the Aquabeam system and iTind place him in an excellent position to be able to offer patients an allover view of the treatments available.
Neil has been using mpMRI for diagnosis of prostate cancer for some years now and 2017 saw the results of the PROMIS trial establishing mpMRI as a key indicator for prostate cancer.

Beyond that Neil has developed a specialist team in the delivery of surgical solutions for kidney disorders, primarily involving renal cancer but also other conditions of the upper urinary tract including PUJ obstruction. Neil has been performing advanced and complex robotic assisted surgery in this field for over 10 years, the Frimley Renal Cancer Centre (FRCC) performing the highest number of robotic assisted partial nephrectomy for renal tumours per year in the UK year on year. Whilst building this service around the Intuitive Surgical robotic platform, Da Vinci, Neil is very excited to lead the introduction of a new British surgical robot, Versius (CMR) and as part of FRCC performed the very first robotic assisted radical nephrectomy in Europe using this device in March 2020.
