About me
About me
Hello, and a warm welcome to my profile. I kindly invite you to read the information below to see if I might be the therapist for you .
Services offered:
I am an experienced, BACP accredited therapist, working on a one-to-one, confidential, basis with a variety of age groups. I work with individuals as well as couples and families. I offer face-to-face sessions, alongside online and telephone. Being appreciative of nature and mindfulness meditation, I offer walk and talk sessions with (or without) my therapy dogs. Home visits can be accommodated if needed
Young People/Children: I have twenty-five years of extensive experience working with children and young people (neurodiverse and neurotypical) and I carry an enhanced DBS certificate. My background lies in school-based counselling, where I facilitated groups for anxiety, anger and body image, as well as one-to-one counselling support. Psychoeducation is important when working with young people; it has the capacity to empower them in the understanding of how and why they feel the way they do, which goes a long way in supporting their overall mental wellbeing.
Model used: Being an integrative counsellor encompasses the therapeutic relationship as its core; I will adapt my practice to fit your individual therapy needs. Each client is unique and we will work together and review regularly to ensure you are getting your therapy needs met. The integration of CBT allows clients to learn and adapt some well established unhealthy behaviour patterns, thus encouraging a healthier mindset.
EMDR: EMDR is used in the treatment of trauma. It can be hugely beneficial in helping you overcome the impact traumatic experiences have on you. Living in fear can be deliberating and isolating. EMDR can support you to begin the steps to overcome these feelings and to be able to start living again.
Therapy Goals: You may have a clear idea about what you would like to gain from therapy but you may not... I can help you to set goals or explore what you would like to gain from your sessions. I offer short-term solution focused therapy, which can help with anxiety, low mood/self-esteem or feelings of being 'stuck' or lacking motivation- as well as long-term trauma (PTSD)/depression/ bereavement/feelings of guilt or shame, OCD, family issues and addiction support.
