About me
Hello, I'm Naomi, an HCPC-registered psychologist working with adults and young people.
Since completing my doctorate in 2014, I have worked across NHS services, private practice, and educational settings. I specialise in supporting people experiencing anxiety and related difficulties, including stress, sleep problems, procrastination, perfectionism, and self-criticism.
People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck in patterns that are hard to shift, or caught in cycles of worry and overthinking. Therapy offers a chance to step back, understand what's maintaining these patterns, and begin to approach things differently.
My approach is client-centred, meaning your experiences, needs, and goals shape the work we do together. I take care to offer a calm, collaborative, and non-judgemental space, alongside practical, evidence-based approaches to help you feel better and more in control.
In practice, sessions are usually a mix of talking things through and looking at what might help in day-to-day life. We might notice patterns in your thoughts or behaviour, such as getting caught in worry, avoiding certain situations, or being very self-critical and think together about what keeps these patterns going.
From there, we can try out practical ways of responding differently. This might include finding ways to step back from anxious thoughts, gently facing situations that feel difficult, or developing a more balanced and supportive way of relating to yourself.
If this way of working feels like it might suit you, you're very welcome to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation, where you can ask any initial questions and see whether it feels like the right fit. Please visit drnaomi.uk to arrange this.
Working with Young People
Alongside my work with adults, I offer specialist support for young people, particularly those in secondary and independent or boarding school settings.
With over ten years' experience in these environments, I understand the academic, social, and emotional pressures young people can face, especially during periods of transition such as starting a new school or boarding.
I support difficulties including anxiety, academic pressure, peer relationships, and test anxiety, working collaboratively to help young people feel more settled, confident, and able to cope.
