About me
Miss Aikaterini (Katerina) Micha is a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and surgical management of breast cancer and benign breast conditions. She is a substantive Consultant at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and provides a full range of specialist breast surgery services, with particular expertise in oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery, mastectomy, immediate reconstruction, and risk-reducing breast surgery.
Miss Micha graduated from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece iand went on to complete two Master's degrees in Public Health and Healthcare Management. In 2017, she was awarded a PhD in General Surgery for her research on surgical healing and the effects of anti-angiogenic therapy. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) and a Fellow of the European Board of Surgery (FEBS).
Her surgical training began in Greece in some of the busiest and largest hospitals, followed by advanced sub-specialist training in the UK at internationally recognised centres, including The Royal Marsden Hospital and St Bartholomew'sHospital. She undertook a formal Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship, further refining her expertise in combining cancer surgery with reconstructive and aesthetic techniques.
Her NHS practice includes breast clinics for symptomatic patients, as well as those referred through the national breast screening programme or with a high-risk family background. She offers a full range of surgical treatments, including breast-conserving surgery, therapeutic mammoplasty, skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy with immediate reconstruction, and complex revision procedures. She also manages familial breast cancer cases and risk-reducing surgery.
Academically, Miss Micha has a strong interest in clinical research and has contributed to multiple national and international trials.. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and continues to play an active role in service development, quality improvement, and teaching. She is an accredited trainer and mentor for surgical trainees and physician associates, reflecting her commitment to education and the advancement of breast surgery.
