About me

Miss Swafe is an oncoplastic breast surgery consultant practicing at HCA London bridge, with outpatient services based at the Shard and 31 Old Broad street where she provides comprehensive care for patients with breast conditions. She holds a substantive oncoplastic breast surgery consultant post at North Middlesex University Hospital, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

She graduated from the University of Aberdeen Medical School before undertaking her higher surgical specialty training in London. As part of her specialist training, Miss Swafe gained extensive experience in several leading oncoplastic breast units across London, including The Royal Marsden Hospital, one of the world's foremost centres for cancer care and innovation. She has advanced proficiency in the management of general surgery and the full spectrum of benign and malignant breast conditions. Her surgical expertise encompasses all aspects of breast surgery, with particular focus on oncoplastic breast surgery, where she combines oncological precision with reconstructive techniques to optimise both cancer outcomes and cosmetic results. She has been actively engaged in research projects, with her work presented at both national and international scientific meetings and published in peer-reviewed journals.

In addition to her clinical practice, Miss Swafe has a strong commitment to surgical education and training. She serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of St George's, Grenada contributing to undergraduate surgical education and is a medical school examiner for University College London. She has co-authored the surgical education book for trainees "Safe Hands: A Handbook of Surgical Techniques", underscoring her strong commitment to advancing surgical training and education. She is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for surgical trainees and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting the next generation of surgeons. She holds a Master's degree in Surgical Education from Imperial College London, graduating with Distinction. She is the Founder of the Academy of Surgical Education, an organisation dedicated to delivering innovative and high-quality educational courses for doctors at various stages of their training and professional development.

Miss Swafe is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a member of the Association of Breast Surgery, British Medical Association, reflecting her professional standing and commitment to maintaining the highest standards of surgical practice.

Above all, Miss Swafe is dedicated to providing patient-centred care. She places great emphasis on clear communication, shared decision-making, and tailoring treatment to the individual needs of each patient.
