About me

Katie Adams is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon with her NHS practice at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital in London where she is the Lead for Gastrointestinal Surgery at. She holds her colorectal surgery private practice at the Cleveland Clinic London.

After training in London she was awarded the FRCS Gold Medal and undertook a fellowship in Sydney, Australia. She has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence in Colorectal Surgery.

As a consultant she was part of the taskforce to set up and subsequently Chair the ACPGBI Early Years Consultant Network. She is now the Chair of the External Affairs Committee and sits on the Executive Committee for the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain & Ireland.

A main tenet of her management style is managing with kindness, for which she was recently recognised as one of the 50 Leading Lights in the UK across public, private and third sector fields for Leading with Kindness.

She is a specialist in inflammatory bowel disease surgery, including robotic surgery and complex fistula surgery. She also has a wide experience in the management of haemorrhoids, fissures and anal skin tags.

She has presented nationally and internationally on the field of colorectal disease and the emerging field of robotic surgery adoption in inflammatory bowel disease.
