About me

Mr Gianluca Rompianesi is a consultant surgeon specialising in robotic and minimally invasive hepatobiliary, pancreatic and transplant surgery, with over 15 years of international clinical and academic experience.

He is recognised for his expertise in advanced robotic HPB procedures, including liver and pancreatic resections, as well as robotic living donor kidney transplantation. His practice focuses on delivering highly specialised, precision surgery using minimally invasive techniques to optimise recovery and outcomes.

Mr Rompianesi currently leads the Living Donor Transplantation Programme at Federico II University Hospital in Naples, Italy, where he is also Assistant Professor of Surgery.

He has undertaken advanced surgical training across leading UK centres, including the Royal Free Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, and holds dual fellowships from the European Board of Surgery in Hepato-Bilio-Pancreatic Surgery and Transplantation, as well as Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons.

Alongside his clinical work, he maintains a strong academic profile, with over 150 peer-reviewed publications and multiple international awards for research and surgical innovation.

Mr Rompianesi works closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide highly individualised care for patients with complex liver, pancreas and biliary conditions, with a particular focus on minimally invasive and robotic approaches.
