About me
I am an Integrative Humanistic Counsellor, offering weekly or fortnightly face-to-face or online 50 minute therapy sessions for individual adults and adolescents (age 11 +), tailored to the needs of each client in a compassionate and sensitive way.
The sessions are confidential, in a safe space where you can share openly and explore deep-rooted emotional patterns, process any trauma, reflect and gain a better understanding of the self, develop self-compassion and emotional well-being that can help to inform change and improve self-worth, rebuild your identity, confidence and self-esteem.
I work in a non-judgmental and respectful manner and the therapeutic relationship that develops between us is essential throughout the work.
I have experience working professionally and empathetically either in open-ended or short-term counselling.
I was born in South Africa and moved to the UK in 1999. I worked in the corporate world and enjoyed this for over twenty years when I decided it was time to do something I
felt passionate about. I enrolled on the Introduction to Counselling Skills course and started volunteering for Macmillan Cancer Support. I have since completed the
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills at Farnborough College; Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling at Farnborough College; BA (Hons) Degree in Counselling at Guildford College (accredited by the University of Greenwich) and the Certificate in Counselling Young People at No. 5 Reading. I have a Level 5 Intermediate Diploma in Supervision (accredited by the CPCAB).
My training is integrative and humanistic, drawing on various theoretical perspectives, integrating knowledge and skills from Person-centred; Existential; Gestalt; Psychodynamic and Attachment Loss & Bereavement theories.
Working with the here and now and reflecting on difficult issues and experiences from the past or present, I believe can lead to self-awareness and an understanding of learnt behaviour which can lead to change.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I have current liability insurance, registered with BUPA and hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
I maintain regular and ongoing professional development and supervision in accordance with BACP Ethical Framework and regulations.
