About me

Mr Mohite graduated from the University of Bristol with a Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomical Sciences (BSc Hons) and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree (MBChB). He was then awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth) whilst undertaking a comprehensive 7-year surgical residency in Ophthalmology. This included an 18-month advanced sub-speciality residency in glaucoma, after which he undertook a further 18-month post-residency senior glaucoma fellowship in complex glaucoma surgery at the highly reputed Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, which is one of the largest ophthalmic tertiary referral centres in Europe.

He now holds a full-time substantive NHS post as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Wolverhampton and Midland Counties Eye Infirmary, where he provides a comprehensive and interventional glaucoma service whilst also maintaining a general ophthalmic skill-set. He teaches and trains ophthalmology residents, medical students, hospital optometrists and clinical nurse specialists as part of his role and is a cataract and glaucoma surgical trainer for resident surgeons. His clinical and research interests are in complex cataract surgery, selective laser trabeculoplasty, all forms of minimally-invasive glaucoma surgeries (MIGS) and glaucoma filtration surgeries (including mitomycin-augmented trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device implants).

In particular, he has been performing implant-free MIGS in the form of iTrack ab-interno canaloplasty (ABiC) and gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) since 2018 and introduced these procedures to his NHS Trust in 2022.

He has authored several scientific publications in high impact peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals and has also written a textbook chapter on glaucoma surgery. He has regularly presented his work at national and international meetings over the last 15 years, and has won multiple prizes at academic conferences for his work.
