About me
Navigating around life, work, family, relationships, sex and intimacy, most of us at some point will find ourselves in a situation where we might benefit from some extra support. I work with individuals, couples and families with both a relational and individual focus.
I am an experienced Psychosexual & Relationship Psychotherapist, BACP (Accredited Member), & COSRT (Accredited Member) & ATSAC (Qualified Member). Alongside my Private Practice, I have previously worked with Relate, the NHS, local Hospices and a Sexual Assault Support Centre. I also work with compulsive sexual behaviours (including support for partners and families).
I have an approachable, warm & empathic approach and clients feed back that they find this incredibly helpful;I have worked as a Lecturer in Counselling at degree and Masters level. I have worked in private practice for a number of years. I am an experienced Clinical Supervisor.
It's a big decision to take the first step on your therapy journey. Clients often say that they wish they had done it sooner and that they quickly felt comfortable and at ease. I work in a relational way, which means I value building our therapeutic relationship together, exploring your issues in a sensitive, but productive way. Clients often say that it is helpful to have a place to take time for themselves, and to reflect on their own needs.
I work with individuals, couples and families, covering a wide range of issues that can both impact us in daily life and how we feel about ourselves and our relationships around us. These can include grief, loss, communication issues, stress, trauma (including generational trauma), anxiety, neurodivergence, parenting challenges, low mood, chronic ill health and pain.
Psychosexual Therapy focuses on sexual and intimacy issues both in your relationship and on an individual basis. I work with issues such as Erectile Dysfunction, Premature Ejaculation, Vaginismus, Orgasmic Disorders, Painful Sex, Desire Discrepancies, Sex Addiction, and the impact of trauma and loss on the sexual self and relationship.
Do you or your partner feel your relationship with sex is impacting wellbeing? Are your sexual behaviours impacting your relationship, family or work life? I can help you to explore these issues to gain a better understanding of your behaviour and support change. I also offer support to partners & families of those who have a compulsive sexual issue.

I offer long, medium and short term counselling and therapy and together we will explore during an initial assessment, which is the most beneficial for your situation. I work online via Zoom and have availability Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday daytime. Contact me via email: elizabethhickstherapy@gmail.com;
