About me
Neil Hunt is a Consultant Specialist Knee Surgeon specialising entirely in knee surgery.
He undertakes all aspects of knee surgery including arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), ligament reconstruction and sports knee surgery (from amateur to professional) and a full range of arthritis surgery including osteotomy (re-alignment), chondral and meniscal replacement techniques, uni-compartmental, total, partial and revision knee replacement including robotic knee surgery.
His aim is to maximise the function of patients' knees throughout their lives by eliminating or reducing their pain, returning them to activities and where possible, delaying the need for knee replacement.
He has a keen interest in early arthritis/arthritis prevention techniques including articular cartilage surgery and meniscal cartilage repair and replacement. He is able to refer patients for cellular 'regenerative' treatments including lipogems where appropriate.
His aim is to return quality of life to his patients as comfortably and quickly as their underlying conditions will allow.
He played rugby for many years and is a keen skier and tennis player and understands the frustrations (for amateurs as well as professionals) of being unable to return to sport after an injury.
Following graduation from Cambridge University and St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London, he trained as an orthopaedic surgeon in London and Yorkshire. He completed his training with a fellowship in Australia with one of the world’s leading knee surgeons and has been involved in the treatment of many elite sportsmen.
He has published a number of papers in peer reviewed journals and presented numerous papers at scientific and orthopaedic meetings nationally and internationally. As ongoing research is vital to realise the benefits of advances in treatment and medical technology, Mr Hunt actively monitors his patients and continues to be involved in clinical research projects.
Having worked as a consultant specialist knee surgeon for over 19 years, Mr Hunt has performed large volumes of surgery and he has excellent results as validated by his National Joint Registry data.
