About me
Mr. Will Poole is a substantive Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at North Bristol NHS Trust, and works at Southmead hospital, the Avon Orthopaedic Centre and the Spire Hospital, Bristol. Electively, he specialises in primary and revision (re-do) hip surgery. Alongside his hip practice, in Southmead Major trauma centre he manages pelvic and acetabular trauma and complex lower limb injuries.
In his current role, Mr. Poole is directly responsible for overseeing and delivering care to a diverse range of patients with complex needs, from those suffering from hip arthritis or failing hip replacements to individuals with pelvic fractures or limb-threatening injuries. He is dedicated to personalised care, tailoring assessments, operative or non-operative treatments, and rehabilitation plans to meet the unique requirements of each patient.
Mr. Poole graduated in Medicine from University College London in 2010, having previously attained a BSc in Medical Sciences with Infection in 2008. He completed his higher surgical training in the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex rotation in 2020 before undertaking a fellowship in South Australia at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. There he provided specialised care in pelvic and acetabular trauma, complex limb trauma, and hip arthroplasty surgery, during which time he also gained accreditation in robotic hip surgery.
In addition to his clinical duties, Mr. Poole is actively involved in mentoring postgraduate surgical trainees, both trauma and hip fellows in Bristol. He has contributed to the advancement of his field in both trauma care and elective orthopaedics through numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, British Orthopaedic Association, the British Hip society, British Association of Pelvic and Acetabular Surgeons and the Orthopaedic Trauma society.
