About me
I have been a consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals since 2003. My interest is in ultrasound guidance for regional anaesthesia. These techniques allow the operation site to remain pain free for up to 12 hours after recovery from a general anaesthetic or, in appropriate cases, a general anaesthetic can be avoided altogether. This avoids many of the unpleasant side effects of strong pain killers such as morphine, allowing patients to recover rapidly.
