Dr Nkem Onyeador is a highly experienced Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist with over 15 years of clinical expertise in managing a wide range of gastrointestinal, liver, and nutritional conditions in children and young people. She is the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Gastroenterology at St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where she has been a consultant since 2016. Her private practice is based in South West London and Surrey where she welcomes patients from all over the world.
Dr Onyeador graduated from the University of Bristol in 2003 with MBChB and an intercalated BSc in Bioethics. She subsequently completed her subspecialist paediatric gastroenterology training at leading UK institutions including King's College Hospital, Birmingham Children's Hospital, and the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Her specialist interests include reflux disease, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome, and the use of virtual consultations in paediatric care all areas in which she has published.
She holds several national leadership roles, including Co-Chair of the College Specialty Advisory Committee (CSAC) at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and is a council member of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (BSPGHAN). Alongside her clinical work, she is passionate about medical education where she previously served as Education Lead for the South Thames Paediatric Gastroenterology Network. In 2025 she was elected a fellow of the Royal College of Paediatric and Child Health (FRCPCH) by election in recognition of her significant contribution in education and training of paediatric gastroenterologists through her work with the college.
