About me

Dr Antonio Creta is a Consultant Cardiologist at the world-renowned Barts Heart Centre, one of Europe's largest and leading cardiac hospitals. He is Clinical Governance Lead for Cardiac Electrophysiology and leads the Ventricular Tachycardia (VT) programme, specialising in the management of complex and life-threatening heart rhythm disorders.

He sees patients with a wide range of cardiovascular symptoms, including chest pain, palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, blackouts, and fatigue. He provides comprehensive general cardiology assessments alongside specialist expertise in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias).

Dr Creta has a particular interest in conditions such as atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), and ectopic beats (skipped or extra heartbeats), and other causes of irregular or fast heart rhythms. He performs a high volume of procedures each year, including catheter ablation, atrial fibrillation ablation, pacemaker implantation, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) procedures, using advanced techniques such as pulse field ablation, 3D cardiac mapping, and leadless pacemakers.

In addition to his specialist work, Dr Creta provides preventive cardiology and cardiovascular risk assessment, supporting patients with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chest discomfort, and early heart disease to reduce long-term risk and improve heart health.

Dr Creta is highly involved in cardiovascular research and has published widely in leading peer-reviewed journals. He holds a research doctorate focused on atrial fibrillation and a Master's degree in Health Economics from the London School of Economics, and has also contributed to the European Cardiac Arrhythmia Society guidelines on atrial fibrillation ablation.
