About me

Mr James Broome is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Salford Royal Foundation Trust, where he has led the department as Clinical Director between 2021- 2023. Passionate about patient care and innovation, Mr Broome provides expert, personalised treatment across the full range of core urological conditions.

Educated in the North West, he graduated with First-Class Honours in Pharmacology from the University of Leeds before completing his medical degree at the University of Manchester in 2010. He undertook his early surgical training in Greater Manchester, followed by specialist urology training across Merseyside and Cheshire, where he developed a particular interest in urinary tract stone disease.

Mr Broome was appointed Consultant in 2019 and is now one of only two dedicated stone surgeons at Salford. He offers the full spectrum of stone treatments including percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) and ureteroscopy. He has also led the prostate cancer diagnostic service, combining clinical excellence with cutting-edge medical technology.

In addition to his specialist interests, Mr Broome covers all aspects of core urology, treating conditions such as Urinary tract infections (UTIs), Prostate enlargement and associated urinary symptoms, Blood in the urine (haematuria), Scrotal swellings and testicular concerns and Male lower urinary tract symptoms

His friendly, collaborative approach ensures patients feel well-informed and supported at every stage of their care. He is also involved in medical device safety, working to ensure technologies used in urology meet the highest standards for patient wellbeing.
