About me

Mr?Stephen trained at University College & Middlesex Hospitals School of Medicine, London, graduating in 1993, before undertaking his basic surgical training in Nottingham. After completing a year of research into osteoporosis, he began specialist orthopaedic training in the Mid Trent region.
He subsequently undertook a sabbatical in Exeter, where the Exeter Hip was developed, and later completed a hip fellowship in Brisbane, Australia. Mr?Stephen was appointed as a consultant in Derby in 2004 and has played a key role in establishing the Royal Derby Hospital as a reference centre for the use of the Exeter hip replacement. He has also served as a trustee of the British Orthopaedic Association and as Vice Chair of its Orthopaedic Committee.
In 2023, Mr?Stephen became the Chief Medical Officer for Nuffield Health, following ten years as Divisional Director for Surgery at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton. He now operates exclusively at Nuffield Health Hospital Derby.
