About me

Mr Nimalan Maruthainar was born and largely brought up in London with schooling at the Haberdashers’ Aske’s School. He qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, 1993.

He worked as demonstrator in Anatomy at Leeds University. His Basic Surgical Training was at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital with further training on the SpR rotation of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital and Royal Free Hospital. Higher training included 1 year as Clinical Lecturer at the Institute of Orthopaedics, University College London (UCL).

He also spent time as a member of the Circuit Medical Team at Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit.

Mr Nimalan Maruthainar has been a Consultant at the Royal Free Hospital since July 2005.

He is an Member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Lowe Syndrome Trust.

He has published widely and is a regular reviewer for a number of orthopaedic journals. Mr Maruthainar holds a lead role in undergraduate teaching at the Hospital and is actively involved in teaching and training of medical students and junior doctors.
