Dr Surya Rajeev is a highly experienced Consultant Physician with specialist expertise in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Weight Management. She completed her specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology in Liverpool, where she was recognised with multiple accolades, including the prestigious Best Specialist Trainee in Diabetes and Endocrinology award.
Her academic background includes a Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Liverpool, culminating in an MD degree focused on Diabetes and Obesity.
Dr Rajeev currently holds a substantive NHS Consultant post at Liverpool University Hospitals and offers private consultations at Spire Murrayfield Hospital on the Wirral. She previously served as Clinical Director for Diabetes and Endocrinology, leading a major transformation of the service that significantly improved patient outcomes, staff experience, and overall satisfaction.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Rajeev plays a key strategic role in regional healthcare. She is the Diabetes Clinical Lead for the Cheshire and Merseyside Clinical Network and serves as Deputy Clinical Lead for Innovation at the University Hospitals Liverpool Group, helping to drive forward innovation and service development.
She strives to provide compassionate, patient-centred care that meets the expectations of her patients; her excellent listening and communication skills help foster trust and ensure personalised treatment.
Areas of interest
She has a particular interest in the management of Type 2 Diabetes, especially in the context of weight management using medications and lifestyle interventions in conjunction; she is passionate about supporting patients to achieve Type 2 Diabetes remission. Dr Rajeev is also a clinical expert in weight management independent of Type 2 Diabetes, offering evidence-based care tailored to individual needs.
She has significant expertise in managing disorders of the thyroid, parathyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands; her clinical interests also include bone health, metabolic health, and reproductive and women's health, including polycystic ovarian syndrome and menopause.
