About me
Alex Macdonald qualified from Oxford University Medical School and undertook his paediatric surgical training in London at Great Ormond Street, Evelina London Children's, Chelsea and Westminster and King's College Hospitals before taking up his NHS Consultant post at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 2020.
His sub-specialist training in paediatric colorectal surgery included the Royal College of Surgeons of England Senior Clinical Fellowship in Paediatric Colorectal Surgery and the Advanced training programme in paediatric colorectal and pelvic reconstruction at Nationwide Children's Hospital, USA.
Alex is the current Honorary Secretary and a trustee of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons (BAPS) and an Executive Committee member of the British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons (BAPES).
He is a keen advocate of minimally invasive surgery and undertakes all general surgery of childhood procedures including hernia repair, orchidopexy (surgery for undescended testes), hydrocele repair and circumcision.
At home Alex enjoys spending time with his two children.
