About me

My name is Denise and I have a Master's degree in Counselling and I am an accredited BACP counsellor. I have been providing people with therapy for many years for many different issues.

I offer video and telephone counselling appointments and some limited in person appointments also.

People come to therapy for a number of different reasons and it's important you feel you find the right therapist for you.

Maybe you are fed up with constantly feeling tired, worried, or burnt out, thinking no matter what you do you will still feel the same? Or maybe you recognise a behaviour or pattern that's holding you back in your career or personal life? Perhaps it's affecting your relationships with the people you care most about? Or preventing you from making new connections in your life. You might be feeling disconnected from who you are?

I understand and appreciate how overwhelming it can be to reach out for therapy and begin the process, so thank you for making that first step today.

I have worked with many clients facing chronic self-doubt, loss of self, divorce, anxiety, worry, people pleasing, unexpected and traumatic bereavements, abusive relationships, struggle with boundaries, depression, redundancy, low self-esteem, relationship issues, never feeling good enough, infidelity, recovering from the impact of alcoholic parents, trauma, family issues and recovering from past abuse.

I provide a safe and empathic space to work at your pace through the issues affecting you. I offer online therapy through video counselling, email counselling and telephone counselling, giving you the flexibility to attend sessions where you feel most comfortable and safe.

I work in a client centred way as I believe you are the expert in your own life. I use various tools from a wide range of modalities.

Giving you space to explore the here and now as well as your past experiences.

I can help you to create a personalised toolbox to not only manage, reduce and understand the present symptoms but also connect to the root causes and patterns to discover what you need to heal.

My approach to counselling is that I see each client as unique and needing different things from therapy. I believe therapy should feel safe, at your pace and decisions made collaboratively together.

As a pluralistic therapist, I use a multi-model approach to tailor the therapy to you including:

CBT tools, mindfulness, compassion focussed therapy, inner child work, person centred therapy, psychodynamic informed therapy and various trauma informed therapy modalities and tools.

Together we can create a toolbox of methods and techniques to not just reduce the symptoms, but to also understand what the symptoms may be telling you about your needs and boundaries.

Once we understand ways to manage and reduce the present symptoms, we can safely explore the root causes of these symptoms.

People all use therapy in different ways for different things and I personally encourage this. These sessions are for you and my role is to facilitate the space you need in order to heal and feel more authentically you.

If you would like to arrange a session please send me an email and I'll get back to you within 48 hours.

Before your first session, I'm happy to answer any questions you may have and I will always be honest and transparent about my expertise and experience. If I feel you may benefit from something outside my scope of expertise I will be happy to signpost you to other services more suitable.

The best way to contact me is through email and from there we can arrange an introduction call to discuss your needs and make sure you feel comfortable with how we might work together before booking a first appointment.

Unfortunately at this time I don't have availability for new clients.
