About me
Jay Cookson, Advanced Specialist Physiotherapist
MSc, BSc, (Hons), PG Dip (Manip Ther), MCSP, MMACP, CMP
Jay is a spinal, shoulder, lower limb and musculoskeletal clinical specialist physiotherapist, with over 25 years of experience. He works with the Neuro Spinal surgical service at the Southampton General Hospital. He lectures across Europe on a variety of post-graduate physiotherapy courses. Jay has been involved with the training of many physios who deal with top athletes from many sports. These sports include rugby, training the Welsh National Team physios and other premiereship sides such as London Wasps, Cardiff Blues and Leicester Tigers. Football club physiotherapists from Newcastle, Sunderland, Liverpool, Fulham, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Chelsea, and many other teams, have attended courses that Jay has taught.
As a registered blind individual Jay is also a member of the England Blind Golf Team and has been fortunate to play all over the world, winning the Blind British Open, British Masters and divisions of the US and Canadian Opens.He specialises in golf injuries, injury prevention and the biomechanics associated with the golf swing. Jay offers PGA accredited courses on swing biomechanics, injury rehabilitation and performance enhancement and has recommendations from such golfers as Ian Woosnam.
Jay always aims to achieve full recovery in conjunction with the prevention of recurrence through fully assessing and examining the problem to identify causative and contributing factors.
