About me

A very experienced individual/ relational counsellor and psychotherapist whose clients include individuals of all ages, couples and families. A specialist counsellor of university students.
I have a certification in online working, understanding this is an important skill in itself much, much more than just turning on a computer.
Sometimes things trouble us and we need help to resolve them. If we do not make time to seek help, the things that trouble us can become part of everyday lives, part of who we are, making us unhappy or anxious, stopping us functioning as we might. We may feel overwhelmed at times, with a profound effect not just on ourselves, but also those around us.
If you want to reach out, feeling you need help to make a positive change in your life to do so, I offer a warm, empathic, non-judgemental, safe and confidential environment to explore whatever you wish. I work with all clients, including children and younger people for whom I have a specialist qualification. I believe that helping people to deal with things as early as possible can help avoid problems resurfacing later in their lives. Some of these problems may be family and relationships, social anxiety, exam and studies, bullying, cyber-bullying and food/ weight issues.
Amongst other things, I offer both psychodynamic psychotherapy and person-centred therapy, but as an integrative therapist I make use of different approaches (e.g., person centred, psychodynamic, object relations, transactional analysis, CBT, IFS, EMDR, ACT and DBT, trauma and neuroscience) within an integrated framework, drawing upon my long experience as a clinician to meet specific client needs in the best way possible.
Having taken specialised training in online and other remote forms of counselling in addition to my original qualification in face-to-face working, my preferred way of working is through offering specialised online counselling and psychotherapy to clients in the comfort of their own homes across the world.

I believe we all have the drive within ourselves to find the best solutions to our own problems, but we often need help and the right conditions to explore what is best for us. However, I recognise that we are all individuals and that what works for one may not work for another. I believe it is important as a therapist to be pragmatic and flexible, drawing from different disciplines and working collaboratively with the client to provide a tailored approach to meet the client's individual needs and preferences. Accordingly, as an integrative counsellor, I draw from many disciplines to ensure I can offer counselling of sufficient flexibility to meet your needs.
Being a counsellor is my second career, after working as a physiotherapist in Switzerland, the Spire Murrayfield and my own private practice here in Edinburgh, and based on my extensive experience as a physiotherapist, I believe that forging a strong relationship between myself and my patients, based on mutual trust and respect, is fundamental to my work. I believe our mental health is as important as our physical health. The one affects the other, though we frequently do not reflect on or recognise the impact our minds may be having upon us.
My life has been enriched with broad and varied work and experience, giving me a valuable depth of understanding and knowledge for my counselling work. I have worked in UK universities in the student and staff counselling, with school children in public and private sectors as well as in the NHS, focussing there on work and relationship problems, victims of abuse, people with depression and anxiety amongst many other concerns.

I have an eclectic approach, making use of different approaches (e.g., person centred, transactional analysis, EMDR, Rewind and memory reconsolidation, CBT, ACT and DBT to name but a few) to meet the specific needs of the client.
I am a qualified counselling supervisor.
