About me
A thoughtful space for reflection, curiosity and change: I offer a calm and collaborative approach to exploring emotional experiences, relationships and the patterns that shape our lives.
I am an experienced counsellor based in the Southside of Glasgow, trained in Person-Centred and Emotion-Focused Therapy. I offer both in-person sessions and online counselling, providing a warm, safe and empathic space where we can explore and make sense of whatever difficulties you may be facing.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to make sense of your thoughts or emotions. You may be coping with anxiety, low mood or depression, navigating a difficult life event, or noticing painful patterns in your relationships or behaviour. I work with integrity and compassion to support you to explore and make sense of your experiences and emotions, helping you feel more connected to yourself and more able to move forward.
Counselling offers a space to slow down, reflect and deepen your understanding of yourself, your experiences and your relationships. Through this process you may develop greater awareness of how your experiences have shaped you, strengthen your sense of self, and find new ways of responding to challenges in your life and relationships.
Some of the areas I commonly work with include:
Anxiety, stress or feeling emotionally overwhelmed
 Depression or low mood
Trauma, abuse or the lasting impact of difficult experiences
Bereavement, grief and significant life changes
Relationship or family difficulties and repeating patterns in relationships
Low self-esteem, low self-confidence, shame or a critical inner voice
 Work-related stress and pressures
Wanting space for reflection, self-understanding and personal development
How I work
Starting counselling can feel daunting, so I work to create a space where you can feel at ease and supported from the outset. In our initial sessions we will explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from the process. You are always in control of what you choose to share and the pace at which we work.
My approach is collaborative and relational. I regularly invite feedback during our work together and offer six-weekly reviews so that we can reflect together on the therapeutic process and ensure the sessions remain helpful and focused on what matters most to you.
I offer both short-term counselling for specific issues and longer-term therapy where there may be a wish to explore deeper patterns or experiences.
Experience
Alongside my private practice, I am an accredited tutor at the University of Strathclyde teaching counselling skills. I am also involved in developing and co-facilitating experiential workshops for therapists and helping professionals exploring movement, embodiment and emotional awareness in therapeutic practice. I previously worked as a counsellor with students at the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University.
My earlier counselling roles include working with Quarriers for over six years where I establish and ran a counselling service for young people who had experienced, or were at risk of, sexual exploitation. I have also worked within a perinatal mental health service supporting people experiencing post-natal depression, as well as within a GP practice and a generic counselling service.
Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked in Social Care in a range of helping roles, including homelessness services, community arts projects and with young carers. These experiences strengthened my belief in the importance of being heard and understood and inspired me to train as a counsellor.
