About me

Dr Ben Corden is a Consultant Cardiologist with specialist expertise in heart failure, cardiomyopathy, inherited heart conditions, and advanced cardiac imaging. He works across Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Bristol Heart Institute.

Dr Corden provides comprehensive care for patients with a wide range of heart conditions - from symptoms such as breathlessness, fatigue or palpitations, to more complex diagnoses including cardiomyopathy or genetic heart disease. He takes a calm, patient-centred approach, with a focus on clear communication and shared decision-making.

He is the Clinical Lead for Heart Failure in Gloucestershire, runs specialist clinics in inherited cardiac conditions, and reports cardiac MRI scans. He specialises in managing patients with:
- Heart failure (reduced ejection fraction or preserved)
- Cardiomyopathy (including HCM, DCM and ARVC)
- Inherited (genetic) cardiac conditions
- Breathlessness, palpitations, faints/blackouts and chest pain
- Sports cardiology assessing patients with heart symptoms or diagnoses who wish to participate in sport or exercise safely
- Preventative cardiology managing cardiac risk factors such as high blood pressure and cholesterol
- Cardiac MRI a specialist non-invasive scan for diagnosing many types of heart disease

Dr Corden studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and completed a PhD at University College London. He trained in cardiology at Imperial College Hospitals in London and completed advanced fellowship training in Inherited Cardiac Conditions and Cardiomyopathy at St Bartholomew's Hospital, one of the UK's leading centres for genetic and familial heart disease.
