Mr Neil Haldar is a highly experienced Consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in robotic prostatectomy, prostate cancer surgery and complex urological oncology. He sees patients from across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, West Herts and Oxfordshire and internationally for specialist care and second opinions.
He has over 25 years of experience and has performed more than 1,000 nerve-sparing radical prostatectomies and over 600 laparoscopic kidney operations. He is a high-volume surgeon with extensive expertise in minimally invasive and robotic techniques, focused on achieving excellent cancer control while preserving quality of life.
Mr Haldar is one of the few urological surgeons in the UK who offers both robotic and open prostatectomy. This allows him to treat patients who may not be suitable for robotic surgery, including those with previous abdominal surgery or complex anatomy, ensuring that more patients can be considered for curative treatment.
He trained at King's College Medical School and completed his specialist urological training in Oxford. He was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons Allinson Foundation Research Fellowship and completed a Master's degree in transplant surgery. He subsequently undertook international fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic, USA and in Nantes, France, developing advanced expertise in laparoscopic and minimally invasive urology.
Mr Haldar has been Clinical Lead for laparoscopic urology and Urology Cancer Lead at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. In 2023, he introduced the da Vinci robotic surgery programme within the Trust. He works within a multidisciplinary team offering comprehensive prostate cancer care, including surgery, radiotherapy and systemic treatments.
In addition to his uro-oncology practice, Mr Haldar has extensive experience in paediatric urology and general urology. He is known for his clear communication, patient-centred approach and consistently excellent outcomes.
