About me
Mr. Neil Haldar, MBBS, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (UROL), MD
Consultant Urological Surgeon Uro-oncology, Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery and Paediatric Urology
Mr. Neil Haldar is a leading consultant urological surgeon with over two decades of experience, specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgeries for complex urological conditions. His exceptional uro-oncology and pediatric urology skills attract patients from across the UK and internationally as they seek his expertise for treatment and second opinions. Known for his compassionate, patient-centred approach, Mr Haldar consistently delivers outstanding surgical outcomes. His dedication to providing world-class, cutting-edge care has earned him top-rated feedback, with patients praising his professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine compassion.
After graduating with numerous academic prizes from King's College School of Medicine, Mr Haldar started his career as a demonstrator in anatomy at Guy's Hospital, London, before joining the prestigious Oxford surgical training scheme. He completed his Master's degree at the University of Oxford, where his research on renal transplant immunogenetics gained international acclaim. He was awarded the prestigious Allinson Foundation Research Fellowship by the Royal College of Surgeons. After completing his urological training in Oxford, his surgical skills were further refined with international training at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and Nantes, France, developing expertise in minimally invasive techniques.
In 2005, Mr Haldar was appointed Clinical Lead for Laparoscopic Urology at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the laparoscopic surgery program. He has since performed over 1,000 nerve-sparing radical prostatectomies and 600 laparoscopic renal and adrenal surgeries, achieving consistently excellent functional and oncological outcomes. He has led the way in Enhanced Recovery pelvic surgery, with his results published well before it became standard practice across the NHS. In 2023, Mr Haldar introduced the Da Vinci robotic surgery program at Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, ensuring his patients have access to the most advanced, minimally invasive treatments available today. His team-based, multidisciplinary approach allows for the integration of surgery, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and chemotherapy, always keeping the patient at the centre of care.
Mr Haldar is also renowned for his expertise in pediatric urology. With more than 20 years of experience in both the NHS and private practice, he provides care for conditions such as circumcision, undescended testes, infant hydrocoele, and recurrent urinary tract infections. His gentle, reassuring approach to children and clear communication with families make him a trusted figure in pediatric urology.
A respected leader in his field, Mr Haldar has been active in several prestigious regional and national professional bodies, including the Royal Society of Medicine. He regularly presents his work at international conferences and contributes to leading medical journals, ensuring his practice is grounded in the latest scientific evidence and innovations. He has written for and been on the editorial board of various medical journals.
Mr Haldar is highly regarded not only for his technical expertise but also for his compassionate approach to patient care. His patients consistently commend him for his thorough communication and unwavering commitment to their well-being. His reputation as a trusted and accomplished urological surgeon makes him a highly sought-after specialist in the UK and internationally, and he has consistently had high ratings over many years.
Outside of his medical career, Mr. Haldar is an avid adventurer. He has climbed to 6,400 meters in the Himalayas and completed challenging cycling expeditions across Bhutan, Cuba, and from Bangkok to Saigon. He also enjoys playing golf and tennis regularly.
