About me

Dr Robin Wilson is a general adult consultant psychiatrist at Maudsley Private Care. He has extensive experience in general adult psychiatry: acute inpatient and community, rehabilitation psychiatry and addiction services. He consulted at the prestigious Maudsley Hospitals from 2016 to 2025, working for the National Psychosis Unit (Bethlem Royal Hospital), Florence and Nelson Wards (Lambeth Hospital, acute female inpatient units), Lambeth Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (Lambeth Hospital, male PICU), Lambeth Alliance Rehabilitation Team and Southwark High Support Rehabilitation Team. In addition to SLAM, he consulted for CNWL (South Westminster Primary Care Networks), West London (Hounslow East and West MINT teams), and Inclusion Substance Misuse Team (Thurrock, Essex).

Dr Wilson was awarded an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) from University College London Medical School in 2004. During his medical degree, he also achieved an intercalated BSc (hons) in psychology from UCL in 2001. Following medical qualification, he enjoyed working in Wellington, New Zealand and Sydney, Australia. He returned to London and joined the Maudsley Hospital psychiatry training program in 2007, achieving MRCPsych in 2010 (Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists), and completing run-through training in 2013.

From 2013, Dr Wilson worked at the world-renowned IOPPN (Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience) in the Psychosis Studies Department as a Clinical Research Fellow, researching the interaction between psychosis and cannabinoids. He achieved an MD(res) (Medical Doctorate of Research) in Psychological Medicine in 2020 under the supervision of Professor Sagnik Bhattacharyya, defending his thesis 'Motivational Salience, the Clinical High-Risk State for Psychosis and Acute Modulation by Cannabidiol'. During this period, he won several academic grants including the MRC Confidence in Concept 2015, the NIHR Clinical Research Network CRN Clinician Fund 2019 and the NIHR CRN Greenshoots Award 2020. To date, he has co-authored over 30 articles.
