About me

Dr. Nina Welsh currently offers remote video and/or telephone sessions (with a view to be able to offer face to face sessions once an appropriate Durham location/premises have been established).

Dr. Nina Welsh is a HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), also trained in Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). Nina qualified as a Counselling Psychologist with first class honours in 2010 before completing a Post Graduate Diploma in CBT, IPT training and EMDR training, all of which equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of psychological principles and therapeutic techniques.

With 15 years of experience as a Psychologist, Nina has worked in several mental health settings as a Clinical Lead and more recently as Senior Clinical Lead at a National Mental Health Service.

Nina strives to keep up to date with current therapeutic research/training and is committed to evidenced based practice and treatment recommended by NICE guidelines. With this commitment to professional development, Nina aims to continually enhance her ability to provide the highest quality of care.

Nina holds people at the centre of her work and always aims to offer a high standard of care with genuine interest, warmth and compassion. Nina provides a collaborative approach to ensure therapy is tailored and adapted to suit each individual need, as well as being clinically appropriate and as safe as possible. Nina believes in fostering a supportive non-judgmental environment to allow individuals to feel comfortable expressing thoughts and feelings. Nina's dedication to her profession is reflected in numerous positive testimonials from clients.

Outside of work Nina enjoys spending time with family, walking her two beautiful dogs, keeping fit, yoga, and seeing friends.

Areas of interest

Special interests are helping people to work through symptoms of PTSD; trauma; low self-esteem; anxiety disorders; stress, burnout; depression; relational issues; and grief etc.

Nina provides a collaborative approach to ensure therapy is tailored and adapted to suit each individual need, as well as being clinically appropriate and as safe as possible.
