About me

Hello,

I'm Spencer, I have twenty years of experience working with individuals and groups in various capacities. I conduct my private practice in North West and South West London.

I provide an integrative humanistic approach (which means drawing from varied therapeutic approaches and interventions), striving for connectedness in the here and now. I meet you exactly where you are, open to the journey we take together on the path of therapy.

I'm a capable but not infallible guide, helping you to recover your own aliveness and to connect with the wisdom that has come from your life experience. I am willing to go to challenging places. I've worked hard to understand myself. I've come a long way and I consider myself to still be on the path of self-discovery.

In addition to my private counselling practice I work within the NHS, as well as charities supporting people with various difficulties, including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder and autism. I have studied many personal development practices both east and west, ancient and modern, I have a decades long meditation practice and I lead regular weekly support groups, workshops and retreats focusing on self-awareness, authentic communication and awakening.

Areas of interest

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling (CPPD, BACP-accredited). I have also attended further workshops:- Working with Suicide, Trauma, Eating Disorders, CBT, Psychiatry, Psychopathology and Psychodynamics and the Neuroscience of Attachment.

I work with any issue, a recent selection of topics clients have focused on include; anxiety, depression, anger, loss, social isolation, loneliness, grief, regret, trauma, sexual (childhood and adult), emotional and physical abuse, assault and rape, domestic violence, suicidal ideation, ADHD, addiction, family conflict and estrangement, modern slavery, borderline personality disorder, cultural and ethnic identity, intercultural partnership, low self-esteem, conflict avoidance and pleasing others, lack of intimacy, infidelity, bullying, helplessness, hopelessness and lack of meaning, perfectionism, life transitions.
