About me
I specialise in working with trauma responses including PTSD, Complex PTSD, and mental health problems that arise from distressing experiences (including accidents, attacks, bereavement, abuse and childhood trauma or hardship). I regularly support people with relationship difficulties, low mood, depression, loneliness, anxiety (including panic attacks, phobias, and all forms of OCD), anger, shame, and dissociation. I work with sexual difficulties where these stem from trauma or abuse.
I have a particular interest in helping people who are re-evaluating their identity and direction in life. I'm passionate about enabling people to connect with their values to live more meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a BSc in Psychology, totalling six years of university education and research, along with further specialist training in therapy, supervision, and leadership. I've completed the EMDR Europe-accredited training and supervision, enabling me to deliver EMDR therapy safely and effectively.
With over 15 years of experience in mental health, I draw upon multiple evidence-based approaches to provide individually tailored, integrative therapy. Before entering private practice, I worked as a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead in the NHS. I am registered with the HCPC (reg: PYL34350), adhering to the highest standards of confidentiality and professional practice, including regular clinical supervision.
I work with Autistic people and people with ADHD, offering a neuroaffirmative, inclusive service that embraces neurodiversity, cultural identity, and LGBTQ+ experiences.
I believe mental health difficulties are meaningful and understandable reactions to painful events and life situations. These challenges deserve to be approached with compassion, curiosity, and respect. Through this lens, we can not only reduce distress but also develop a deeper understanding of ourselves, leading to a more connected, balanced life.
Difficulties I often help people with:
Feeling constantly on edge, panicky, stressed, or afraid; living a smaller life due to fear.
Upset or conflict in relationships: arguments, break-ups, or ongoing family issues.
Persistent sadness, loneliness, or grief; a lack of joy, energy, and motivation.
Intrusive memories or feeling constantly triggered by past events.
Questioning whether your childhood experiences, even ones that seemed "normal", are still impacting you today.
Healing from abusive, toxic, or narcissistic relationships and learning to choose healthy ones.
Difficulty accessing or expressing emotions, or overly intellectualising them, even after years of therapy.
Harsh self-criticism, low self-esteem, or feelings of shame, guilt, or failure.
A sense that something isn't right, even if it's hard to name; feeling lost, disconnected, or going through the motions.
People who've experienced trauma, difficult childhoods, or mental health issues often feel confused about why life seems so much harder for them than for others. Many mistakenly assume it's because they're somehow broken. Knowing that you need to change can be incredibly frustrating when your best efforts keep landing you back in the same place. You might understand what you should be doing, yet in the moment, find yourself reverting to old, unhelpful patterns that keep you stuck.
When we begin working together, I start by building a thorough understanding of what you're experiencing and why. Clients often tell me that even after the first session, they feel more clarity and compassion toward themselves. This insight can open the door to real, lasting change.
Together, and at your pace, we can explore your experiences in a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space. I'd be happy to talk through your hopes for therapy and answer any questions you may have.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss how we might work together for a more positive future.
