About me

Mr Armitage went to medical schoolat St Thomas' in London qualifying in 1992. He worked in numerous hospitals as a junior doctor including Brighton, St Thomas', Kings College London and spent a year and a half in Oxford at the John Radcliffe, Radcliffe Infirmary and demonstrating/teaching medical students. He Was St Annes College Tutor
He completed his Orthopaedic training on the South East Thames higher surgical training programme in 2001
In August 2001 he commenced a fellowship in Perth, Wester Australia working with Keith Holt who specialises in sports related injuries and surgery.
In March 2002 he began a trauma Fellowship at The Royal Perth Hospital
In April 2003 he was appointed to Eastbourne District General Hospital as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest inKnee surgery
He was clinical Lead for Orthopaedics at Eastbourne from 2006 - 2012 driving the department forward and inline with local, national and european directives
In 2015 he became Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at The Horder Centre as well as chairman of the Clinical Governance Committee
Throughout his carreer he has enjoyed training all grades of junior doctor and has been nominated for trainer of the year previously
He has been an ATLS instructor, examined medical students and junior doctorsand is a clinical and educational supervisor

To balance work he tries to keep active and having spent several years playing tennis and attending boot camp, like many middle aged individuals he now enjoys cycling and is often seen dressed in lycra pedalling around the roads of East Sussex. The only sport he can still just beat his teenage sons at.
He enjoys tinkering with his 50 year old Alfa Romeo and ex NATO landcover Defender
