About me
I am a lung specialist and am on the Specialist Register with the General Medical Council (GMC) as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine providing specialist diagnosis and treatment for respiratory, chest and sleep disorders. I have been specialising in respiratory medicine for over 25 years. I was started as an NHS Consultant in Respiratory Medicine in 2004. I typically see patients with cough, wheeze, breathlessness and snoring. I have expertise in a wide variety of lung diseases particularly asthma, sarcoidosis, sleep apnoea, tuberculosis (TB), pneumonia, lung cancer and pleural disease e.g. pneumothorax and pleural effusion. I am particularly interested in seeing patients with unexplained breathlessness or cough and will work with you in a methodical manner to establish a diagnosis and formulate a personalised management plan.
I trained in Respiratory Medicine in London teaching hospitals including The Royal Brompton, The Hammersmith, St Mary's and Charing Cross Hospitals. During my postgraduate training I obtained a Master of Science with Distinction in Respiratory Medicine (MSc) followed by a Doctorate in Respiratory Medicine (MD), both at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Imperial College London.
In April 2004 I began work as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at The Whittington Hospital NHS Trust in North London. In July 2012 I moved to Ealing Hospital NHS Trust in West London as a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to take on the role of Lead Consultant for Tuberculosis (TB) and Clinical Lead Consultant in Respiratory Medicine for the hospital.
In September 2014, after 22 years service in the NHS (more than 10 of which were at Consultant level) I moved into full-time independent practice. I divide my professional time between seeing private patients, medicolegal work and aviation medicine. I undergo annual Consultant Appraisal with revalidation by the GMC, most recently in September 2024.
