About me

I am an experienced vascular and endovascular surgeon with over 15 years of experience in the field. I have been working as a consultant at Nottingham University Hospitals for over five years. I have completed a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery, so can provide expert assessment and advice on the full range of vascular conditions and treatments including open and endovascular (keyhole) options.

I specialise in all aspects of vascular conditions, particularly varicose veins. I am able to perform a wide range of procedures under local or general anaesthetic.

I have a dedicated interest in foot problems and non-healing leg wounds which was developed during my fellowship. Since becoming a consultant I have developed advanced care pathways for patients across Nottinghamshire with diabetic foot complications.

My PhD was on atherosclerotic plaques that lead to strokes, and can offer expert advice on stroke prevention procedures. I regularly run an aortic aneurysm clinic and can advise on treatment options for a wide range of aneurysms found in the body.

I was the first person in the UK to complete a dedicated vascular surgery training programme in 2019. Following this I completed a specialised highly competitive fellowship in lower limb vascular problems at St Thomas' Hospital in London. During my training I have completed training courses in Europe and the USA and have presented academic work across the globe.

I have personally performed over 1,000 minimally invasive keyhole operations for patients with varicose veins in the last few years. I regularly perform open and keyhole arterial procedures including bypasses and endarterectomy (artery plaque removal) in my NHS post. I assist the cardiology team when they perform keyhole aortic valve replacements and the spinal surgeons when they perform spine stabilisation surgeries from the front of the body.

As a Clinical Associate Professor with a PhD in Cardiovascular Sciences, I continue to contribute to groundbreaking research in patients with vascular conditions. I continue to publish academic papers. I am currently Principal Investigator on a number of clinical trials and I am chair of Vascular Governance at Nottingham University Hospitals, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

In my spare time I mentor medical students, junior doctors, and international medical graduates. I have created specialised vascular surgery modules for medical students, serve as Deputy Lead for Undergraduate Surgery, and contribute to the National Vascular Surgery Examinations and Recruitment programme. I always aim to provide evidence-based care to achieve the best outcomes for my patients.
