About me
I have recently stepped back from my post as an NHS Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to take over risk and serious incident reviews across the Trust. Working in a busy inner city area, responsible for the provision of long term care for over 150 patients with severe and enduring mental illnesses. I supervised 400 assessments per year. In my independent practice, I see over 60 new patients a year and coordinate the care of over 150 patients, generally employed by City of London businesses.
With higher training in Liaison Psychiatry, and extensive neuropsychological training I am ideally suited to advising on unusual presentations, somatoform and functional disorders.
I specialise in Adult ADHD but also assess, diagnose and review patients with the following -
Depression, Anxiety and Mood disorders, PTSD, and stress related disorders including work-related and burnout. Perinatal mental health, Bipolar Affective Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and an International Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. I was awarded the distinction of Honorary Member of the World Psychiatric Association in 2017. I was elected to the board of the EPA in 2019, and awarded the Association Medal of the BMA for sustained and meritorious service. As Chair of the British Medical Associations Medico-Legal Committee, I regularly liaised with the Ministries of Health & Justice, the CPS and the Medical Defence Organisations. I sit on its Medical Ethics Committee, as well as that of the European Psychiatric Association, and previously the World Psychiatric Association.
More recently my international work has included policy development in end-of-life issues including assisted dying. More pragmatically I can assist with lasting powers of attorney and capacity issues.
