About me

Dr James Wheeler has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families across the NHS and third sector in both Scotland and London. He currently holds the post of Principal Clinical Psychologist in NHS CAMHS.
James has held clinical and leadership roles in youth forensic services, substance misuse teams, and social care services. His past roles include working in crisis services, adolescent outreach teams, and sexual trauma services within CAMHS.
He has also worked extensively as a Lead Trainer and Clinical Consultant at the Anna Freud Centre where he continues to train teams in AMBIT (Adaptive Mentalisation-Based Integrative Therapy) across health, education, and social care.
James brings significant experience in working with adolescents and adults who are neurodivergent, and he has supported LGBTQI+ young people and families, including those exploring gender identity.
